As president of Meridian Specialty Yarn Group, Inc. (MSYG) and former owner and president of Washington Manufacturing Company, Tim Manson has played, and continues to play, a significant leadership role in the US textile industry.
He has been president of MSYG since 2009 and in that time the company has emerged as both a major global specialty yarn manufacturer and the leading specialty yarn manufacturer in the United States. In addition, while nearly every other US textile company in the same sector has closed operations or moved overseas, Meridian has emerged as a market leader.
Today, products made by MSYG are found in retail and craft stores across the country, and also in carpets, furniture upholstery, window dressings, automobiles, socks and more. Tim credits a strong management team and dedicated staff for these accomplishments.
His first job in the textile industry was with Standard Coosa Thatcher Company in their yarn division, where he worked from 1979 to 1988, and he has been with MYSG since 2004 when Meridian Industries purchased Washington Manufacturing Company. Tim majored in economics at Washington and Lee University, in Lexington, Virginia, has been married 34 years and has three children, ages 30, 28 and 19.
Quote from Tim Manson: “Meridian Specialty Yarn Group, Inc., with the support of our parent company, Meridian Industries, is committed to servicing the US textile Industry with the highest quality specialty yarn products with a focus on attaining service excellence. We believe a strong manufacturing base is crucial to the US economy and we will do all that we can to support our customers, our employees and the communities in which we operate.
